Study Permit Exentsions
Your study permit's expiration date indicates when you must finish studying and leave Canada.
The expiration date can be seen on the top right corner of your permit. This date is normally 90 days plus the length of your academic programme. You can use the extra 90 days to prepare to depart Canada or to prolong your stay.
If an international student in Canada desires to study for longer than the validity period of their study permit, they must apply for a study permit extension. To prolong their stay in Canada as a student, the international student must file an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
